Vofopitant is a neurokinin-1 (NK1) receptor antagonist that was developed for its potential use in treating conditions such as depression, anxiety, and chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV). By blocking the NK1 receptor, vofopitant interferes with the action of substance P, a neuropeptide involved in stress and pain responses. Although it showed promise in preclinical studies for its antiemetic and anxiolytic effects, its development has been limited, with research focused on understanding its therapeutic potential and safety profile.
