Z-LEHD-FMK (Cat No.:I011540) is a cell-permeable and irreversible inhibitor of caspase-9, an enzyme involved in programmed cell death or apoptosis. Z-LEHD-FMK works by irreversibly binding to the active site of caspase-9, preventing it from carrying out its normal cellular functions. The inhibition of caspase-9 activity by Z-LEHD-FMK has been shown to prevent apoptosis and promote cell survival in various experimental models of injury and disease, such as ischemic stroke and neurodegenerative disorders. Z-LEHD-FMK has been used as a tool compound to study the role of caspase-9 in various cellular processes and as a potential therapeutic agent for the treatment of conditions characterized by excessive apoptosis, such as neurodegenerative diseases and ischemic injury.
