Z-WEHD-FMK (Cat No.:I011541) is a cell-permeable and irreversible inhibitor of caspase-1 and caspase-4, which are enzymes involved in programmed cell death or apoptosis. Z-WEHD-FMK works by irreversibly binding to the active site of the caspases, preventing them from carrying out their normal cellular functions. The inhibition of caspase-1 and caspase-4 activity by Z-WEHD-FMK has been shown to reduce the production of proinflammatory cytokines, such as interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) and interleukin-18 (IL-18), and to prevent cell death in various experimental models of inflammation and apoptosis. Z-WEHD-FMK has been used as a tool compound to study the role of caspases in various cellular processes and as a potential therapeutic agent for the treatment of inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.
